– 3 days, 21 speakers, and 7 sessions focused on technology, sustainability, and research by the Vicenza Symposium

The Venue of the Vicenza Symposium – the Basilica Palladiana, a UNESCO World Heritage.

The first edition of The Vicenza Symposium is an unprecedented international event in Italy designed to explore the key topics of the jewellery and fashion accessory industries from a technical-scientific perspective.

Scheduled from September 2 to 42025, in the UNESCO World Heritage setting of the Basilica Palladiana, the biennial event combines scientific rigor, industrial vision, and craftsmanship culture.

The Vicenza Symposium is organized by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, in partnership with Legor Group S.p.A. and Progold S.p.A., in collaboration with Vicenzaoro and T.Gold, and with the support of A.F.E.M.O., CIBJO, CONFINDUSTRIA FEDERORAFI, FRANCÉCLAT, GJEPC India, HKJJA e MJSA.

The Vicenza Symposium is guided by an international Scientific Committee of twelve prominent figures from academia and industry. This committee ensures both scientific credibility and strategic direction for the project and includes: Damiano Zito (Chairman and CEO, Progold S.p.A.) – President; Massimo Poliero (President and CEO, Legor Group) – Vice president; Giorgio Bodei (Industrial Director, Pomellato); Florian Bulling (Materials Engineer, FEM Forschungsinstitut); Ezio Dadone (Jewellery Industrialization & Manufacturing Senior Director, Bvlgari – LVMH Group); Frédéric Diologent (R&I Materials Director, Richemont); Valerio Doppio (R&D Manager, Progold S.p.A.); Andrea Friso (R&D Manager for Master Alloy, Legor Group); Ulrich Klotz (Professor of Materials Science at the Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences, Germany), Joyce Lam (Vice President, Innovation & Product Development – Pandora Innovation Center). Honorary President is Eddie Bell, founder of the renowned Santa Fe Symposium, a global benchmark in jewellery innovation for 35 years, whose cultural and scientific legacy The Vicenza Symposium proudly inherits and relaunches.

The choice of Vicenza as the host city is strategic : it is one of the most important jewellery districts in the world, where artisanal tradition, technological innovation, and industrial vision converge in a unique ecosystem. Hosting The Vicenza Symposium strengthens Vicenza’s role as a global hub for technical and scientific culture across high-end jewellery and fashion accessories.

The Symposium takes place just days before Vicenzaoro September (September 5–9) — the international jewellery trade show organized by IEG, which also owns T.Gold, the leading international exhibition for jewellery technology and machinery—underscoring the centrality of technology in driving innovation across the supply chain.

This standing is further reinforced by the Renewal Project of the Vicenza Exhibition Centre: a €60 million investment by IEG, begun in February 2024. The project will deliver by September 2026 a new 22,000-square-meter pavilion on two levels, enabling an innovative redesign of the exhibition layout and the integration of T.Gold technologies in full synergy with Vicenzaoro, the essential business hub for the industry at a global level.

Key goals of The Vicenza Symposium are fostering dialogue between tradition and innovation, supporting a shared and accessible scientific culture, and promoting the conscious adoption of new technologies to enhance advanced craftsmanship. Strong emphasis is also placed on sustainability and traceability, viewed as strategic levers for the sector’s global competitiveness.

This inaugural edition features three days of work, and a program built around excellence: 21 original papers and technical contributions—selected from over fifty submissions from around the world—will offer a comprehensive view of the best applied research in jewellery and fashion manufacturing. Presentations will be delivered by international speakers from the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, and Thailand, including academics, technologists, and industry professionals.

The program is structured around seven key themes for the future of the industry: artificial intelligence, 3D printing, sustainability, process innovation, materials, design, and traceability. More than 170 participants are already registered, representing over 80 organizations including companies, brands, universities, research institutions, and schools, from 15 countries.

Looking to the future, The Vicenza Symposium aims to become an international reference point for the sustainable technological development of jewellery and fashion manufacturing, contributing to the creation of a global community capable of driving cultural, industrial, and technological change within the sector.
