The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT, in collaboration with the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, Chanthaburi Province, the Chanthaburi Gem & Jewelry Traders Association and a broad network of public and private partners including, Chanthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, Chanthaburi Municipality, Chanthaburi Chamber of Commerce, Chanthaburi Industry Council, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Chanthaburi), Chanthaburi Tourism Promotion Association, KP Jewelry Center and the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), organized the “International Chanthaburi Gems & Jewelry Festival 2025” for the sixth consecutive year under the theme “Chanthaburi – City of Gems” from 5–10 December 2025 at the Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Center, the KP Jewelry Center and the Gem Market on Sri Chan Road, Chanthaburi.
The festival received a positive response from gem and jewelry entrepreneurs, domestic and international buyers, as well as a large number of tourists—reinforcing Chanthaburi’s position as a key international hub for the gems and jewelry trade. It is not only a showcase of capability advancing us toward the “World’s Gem City”, but also a genuine driver of local economic and tourism growth in Chanthaburi Province.

International Chanthaburi Gems & Jewelry Festival is an annual major event driving the gem and jewelry industry of Chanthaburi Province. Last year (2024) the festival drew over 10,000 visitors, with more than 10% from overseas.
Mr. Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director General of GIT, said , “the two countries with the highest participation were the China and India, and trading value during the show exceeded 100 million THB. This success underscores our mission to enhance Thai industry trade opportunities, stimulate the local economy and strengthen Chanthaburi’s position as a world’s city of gem — not only as a production center but also as a full-scale trade and investment hub for the gem and jewelry industry.”
The 2025 festival offers a key platform for manufacturers, exporters, designers, importers, skill-craftsmen and lapidaries to exchange knowledge, to connect with Thai and foreign high-potential buyers. Visitors will experience a wide array of gem and jewelry merchandise, including rough gemstones, cut-and-polished stones, jewelry and machinery and equipment from over 300 exhibitors.
Mr. Sumed Prasongpongchai stated that this year’s event exceeded expectations. The success was driven by the continued growth of both domestic and international gems and jewelry markets, the vibrant year-end purchasing atmosphere, and strong collaboration across all sectors. Key contributors included the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Chanthaburi Province, public and private sector partners, industry operators, and GIT, all working together to elevate product quality and industry standards to international levels.
“GIT is ready to support businesses, buyers and consumers in conducting gem and jewelry transactions with confidence through the ‘Buy With Confidence’ (BWC) business-matching program. We also provide gem and jewelry testing services by GIT experts and operate a GIT Standard advice center,” he added.
In addition, proactive promotional efforts played a vital role in highlighting the strengths of Thai gem and jewelry entrepreneurs and reinforcing Chanthaburi’s image as the “World’s City of Gems”—not only as a production center, but also as a significant trading and investment destination for the global gems and jewelry industry.

As a result, the festival welcomed over 11,000 visitors across six days. Thai participants accounted for 95.37%, while 4.63% were international visitors. The top three countries represented were India, China, and Guinea. Total on-site trade value exceeded 235 million baht (US$7.5 million).

The show also features major highlights: exhibitions showcasing Thai gem & jewellery craftsmanship and design expertise, including the 19th GIT’s World Jewelry Design Awards 2025, the “Gems Treasure” jewelry exhibition and a display by Chanthaburi company operators. In addition, seminars will build the capacity of gem and jewelry business in areas such as marketing, e-commerce and design, alongside hands-on workshops conducted by universities and other institutions, and a fun “Mystery Gem Box” draw from Chanthaburi.

Looking ahead, GIT announced that the International Chanthaburi Gems & Jewelry Festival 2026 will be held from 4–8 December 2026 at the same three venues. The upcoming edition will further enhance exhibition quality, expand international market partnerships, and intensify gemstone-focused tourism experiences—solidifying Chanthaburi’s status as the World’s City of Gems.
